Darkstar Air Racing • Reno Air Races

The National Championship Air Races is the last event of its kind and is held every September just north of Reno at the Reno Stead Airport. The event features six racing classes, a large display of static aircraft and several military and civil flight demonstrations. The Reno Air Races, officially known as the National Championship Air Races, is the longest running air race and the only closed course pylon race event. After three days of competition the jet competitor Darkstar Air Racing, led by Dianna Stanger, raced to the top completing the race in the top five for the first-time team. The team qualified with a speed of 469.8 MPH. The jet class completes eight-mile laps fifty feet above the ground.
